about

In late 2010 I moved back to an area of South Australia in which I was born in 1971 - the Fleurieu Peninsula. I think I've always been a child of the sea and I speak with it now, daily. I've always moved slowly and silently through the world. I've always looked to the trees, not the buildings. This long stretch of coast, of land and vines, are there to keep me mindful of nature, of place, of the strange, complex and confusing relationship those of us not indigenous to this land feel. I listen to the waves at night and think of myself drifting out ... and through this listening, I'm aware of my hearing being the treasured sense, the loss of it too great to contemplate. So I connect with my birth place once more, at 41 years of age, and the spaces between the noise of life are more important than ever.
